Without programmers, there could be no video games. Yet without video games, would anyone have ever learned how to program? If your answer to that question was "yes, of course!" then chances are you picked up programming in order to (a) recompile your linux kernel, (b) develop database systems for phat profits, or (c) provide enterprise-level consumer-driven solutions to modern-day business problems in the information age. In short, you probably wouldn't like working at Acheron Design. Programmers at Acheron Design often find themselves working on a wide range of tasks. As a studio with deliberately small team sizes, you won't be spending all your time cranking out save/load interfaces for game after game until you burn out after 3 years. Variety is the key, but it takes a high quality programmer to be able to consistently deliver solid technology across such a wide range of tasks. That's where you come in. You are a skilled programmer. You could probably make a lot of money by going to a bank, or something. You program stuff in your spare time just because you can. You have a passion for games, and you have probably wanted to make them ever since you first discovered they existed. You are looking for a career in game development, not just a job. You want to be part of the process, not just a small cog in a big machine. You are looking for Acheron Design, but we are also looking for you. The next step is for you to submit a formal application to our recruitment department. Instructions on how to do this are found on the application guidelines page. Make sure to include samples of your coding, and especially any game-related projects.
